Business Applications & Automation Specialist (m/f/d) - Aerospace

Taufkirchen
Full-time
Permanent employee

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

The Why:
To end COPV failure in spaceflight.
At Blackwave, we build advanced pressure vessel technology that sets new benchmarks in performance, reliability and cost efficiency for spaceflight. Achieving this mission requires more than great engineering. It requires manufacturing systems that move fast, scale reliably and provide clear operational visibility.
Our culture is our operating system. It is the code encrypted into our DNA. Joining Blackwave means committing to a clear mission that demands excellence, precision and focus. In this role, you will help build the digital backbone of our manufacturing operations — enabling teams to move faster, make better decisions and continuously improve the systems that power our production.

The What
As Business Applications & Automation Specialist, you sit at the intersection of manufacturing, engineering, quality and IT and drive the digitalization of our production environment.
Your goal is to design and implement systems that enable relentless execution and precision at speed across our manufacturing operations.

At Blackwave, we live by the Blackwave Code- our core values of High Performance, Togetherness, Candor, Playfulness, and Accountability- and we’re looking for candidates who embody these traits and are excited to bring them to life in how they work, think, and deliver.

High Performance
Relentless execution. Precision at speed.
  • Build and implement the digital process landscape for manufacturing operations
  • Translate operational challenges into scalable digital systems and workflows
  • Develop business applications and automation solutions that reduce manual work
  • Create production dashboards and data visibility tools for shop-floor teams and leadership
  • Ensure that each production station has the information it needs to perform, while data is also aggregated centrally
  • Continuously improve systems so manufacturing can scale without losing speed or reliability
Togetherness
One team. Fierce trust. Disagree – then commit.
  • Act as the interface between Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality and IT
  • Work closely with production teams to understand operational challenges first-hand
  • Align stakeholders around clear processes and digital solutions
  • Support transparent decision-making by providing clear and reliable operational data
Candor
We say the hard thing because we care. Truth drives growth.
  • Identify inefficiencies or bottlenecks in operational workflows
  • Challenge existing processes where necessary and propose better, more scalable solutions
  • Build systems that make operational performance visible and measurable
Playfulness
Play with purpose. Break things. Learn fast.
  • Experiment with new tools and approaches to improve digital workflows
  • Test and iterate solutions quickly in collaboration with operational teams
  • Explore creative ways to automate processes and simplify complex workflows
Accountability
Own your impact. Lead yourself. Hold the bar.
  • Take ownership of the digital systems supporting manufacturing operations
  • Ensure solutions are reliable, scalable and actually used by the teams
  • Work closely with the Head of Manufacturing to ensure systems support operational priorities

YOUR PROFILE

  • You enjoy solving real operational problems and turning them into clear systems and processes that work in practice. You take ownershipof your work and operate with a strong sense of responsibility for the impact your systems have on the teams using them. You likely bring:
    • Experience with business applications, workflow automation or operational systems
    • Experience working in manufacturing, operations, logistics or engineering environments
    • Strong process thinking and systems mindset
    • Ability to translate operational needs into structured digital solutions
    • A hands-on and pragmatic approach to solving complex problems
    • Comfort working cross-functionally with technical and operational teams
    • The ability to communicate openly, challenge ideas constructively and collaborate effectively
  • Nice to have
    • Experience with manufacturing digitalization or Industry 4.0
    • Experience building dashboards, reporting tools or workflow automation
    • Background in aerospace, robotics, hardware startups or high-tech manufacturing
    • Experience with logistics or supply chain operations
  • This role might be for you if…
    • You enjoy solving real operational problems, not just designing theoretical solutions.
    • You like working close to production, understanding how systems actually operate and improving them step by step.
    • You think in processes, systems and data flows, not just tools.
    • You take ownership and naturally hold the bar high for yourself and the systems you build.
    • You are comfortable challenging existing processes when they no longer support the speed or scale required.
    • You enjoy working with engineers, operators and technical teams to find practical solutions.
    • You are curious and like to experiment with new tools, automation approaches and workflows.
    • You care about building systems that people actually use, not just systems that look good on paper.
  • This role might not be for you if…
    • You prefer highly structured environments with clearly predefined processes.
    • You are uncomfortable working in environments where systems and processes are still evolving.
    • You prefer roles that focus primarily on maintaining existing systems rather than building new ones.
    • You are looking for a position with limited cross-functional interaction.
